Zaragoza.- The crisis has not affected logistics in the capital of Aragón, especially when referring to the airport sector. Zaragoza Airport recorded a freight volume of 36,936,345 metric tonnes (tn). This figure was reached in December according to the Departament of Operational Statistics of Aena and is 72.3% more than at the same date in 2008.
Last year Zaragoza Airport ranked number five nationally, behind Madrid Barajas (329,186,631 tn); Barcelona – El Prat (103,996,489 tn); Vitoria (34,989,727 tn) and Gran Canaria (33,695,248 tn).
This increase is thanks to the growth in the Logistic Platform of Zaragoza (Pla-Za), and especially companies like Caladero, which have increased their air traffic frequency.
Currently the following companies connect Zaragoza with Bahrein; TNT, which links Spain to Lieja (Belgium); Emirates that connects Dubai (United Arab Emirates) with the Iberian Peninsula and MK Airlines with Johannesburg (South Africa) and Air Brigde with Moscow - Shanghai.
