18/02/10 Asseco hopes to create 200 jobs in Pla-Za by 2014

The technological company Asseco opened its logistic competition centre and IT laboratory for Spain yesterday in the Logistic Platform of Zaragoza (Pla-Za). The President of the Aragón Regional Government, Marcelino Iglesias, attended the event. The company, which specializes in development and integration of software systems and solutions, media services, and computer distribution, will provide its services to the rest of Spain from its base in Zaragoza.  

The company has already created 50 jobs in Pla-Za, but it expects to increase its staff to 200 employees over the next four years.

Asseco has been in Spain since March 2009, thanks to a joint venture agreement with the Raxon group, currently known as Asseco Spain. The group is leader in Europe in developing software for sectors such as banking, industry, energy, public administration and health. The group employees over 9,000 workers, and has offices in 18 countries.

In Aragón, the objective of Asseco is to position itself as the main technological partner of the region also plans to consolidate new competition centres. These projects "require a strong investment", according to the Vice-President of Asseco Spain, José Luis Asensio, who said in the opening of the new facilities in Pla-Za, "we’ve taken our first step". Asensio also stated that, "we still have a long way to go”. "Our European main offices have important investment plans for Asseco Spain, funds that will allow us to consolidate new competition centres in Aragón", he concluded.

President Iglesias added that the priority of the region is not just to make it through the crisis, but to change the production model "to a more sustainable economy which withstands difficulties easier ", by putting emphasis in IT and logistics.
