01/03/10 The Logistic Platform of Zaragoza and CLASA have signed a collaboration agreement.
Last Thursday, Feb. 25, the The Logistic Platform of Zaragoza, PLAZA, and CLASA signed a collaboration agreement. The aim of the agreement is to reinforce the already existing collaboration between both organizations in order to improve logistic infrastructures and intermodal transfer processes. Alfonso Vicente Barra, Councillor of Public Works, City Planning and Transport and the Chairman of PLAZA’s Board of Directors and Jorge del Castillo, CLASA’s General Manager, signed the agreement.

One of the most important aspects of the agreement is the identification of new opportunities for the development of logistic activities and air freight in the exchange of relevant information to favour growth and quality of infrastructures and services dealing with transport logistics, such as joint partnership in fairs, conferences or specialized workshops on logistic infrastructures.

The collaboration between PLAZA and CLASA is not new; in 2005 both organizations signed a collaboration agreement together with the Zaragoza Logistic Center (ZLC), to carry out a study about the potential of air freight at the Zaragoza Airport.

In fact, besides the difficult situation that international air freight trade has experienced over the last year, the Zaragoza Airport has recorded satisfactory figures in air freight traffic, which has put it in third place in the ranking of Spanish Airports with a total of 37,877 tonnes handled in 2009 and an increase of 6.4%, compared to 2008. PLAZA and CLASA have stated, moreover, that with the different joint initiatives, they hope to contribute to the consolidation and promotion of the Zaragoza Airport and the whole of logistic infrastructures, as well as the growth in activity in the entire region.
