The President of Aragón, Marcelino Iglesias, stated that the objective of the region at this moment is not just to make it through the economic crisis as soon as possible, but to change the production model to a more sustainable economy which withstands difficulties better.
In this sense, the president highlighted that 10% of employment in the autonomous region is related to information technologies and he mentioned Aragón's commitment to renewable energy and logistics. During the opening ceremony of the technological company Asseco’s facilities in PLAZA, Iglesias highlighted that information and communication technologies, especially those related to important activities to comply with this objective.
President Iglesias gave special mention to the privileged location of Zaragoza. He emphasized that an important part of the country’s economy is near us and that the people of Aragón are capable of using location, capacity and competitive advantages to benefit our companies and to create jobs.
Marcelino Iglesias, attended the opening today of the Logistic Competition Centre and IT Laboratory for Spain of the Asseco Group in the Logistic Platform of Zaragoza (Pla-Za). Alberto Larraz, Councillor of Economy, Tax and Employment also attended. Asseco is a company which specializes in development and integration of software systems and solutions, media services, and computer distribution and will provide its services to the rest of Spain from its base in Zaragoza. The company has already created 50 jobs in Pla-Za, but expects to increase its staff to 200 employees over the next four years.
Asseco has been in Spain since March 2009, thanks to a joint venture agreement with the Raxon group, currently known as Asseco Spain. The group is leader in Europe in developing software for sectors such as banking, industry, energy, public administration and health. The group employees over 9,000 workers, and has offices in 18 countries.
In Aragón, the objective of Asseco is to position itself as the main technological partner of the region also plans to consolidate new competition centres: Development and Innovation in Media Services, Self-service kiosks, Digital Sign Systems and Software Factory. |
